Before entering the web world, Mike (Wazowski!) worked his way into students’ nightmares as a teacher of physics and chemistry. He is now associate director for Furman’s Center for Teaching and Learning where he works with faculty in the areas of emerging learning technologies and course and assignment design.
He also teaches. Mike team-taught Interdisciplinary Studies 259 (E-merging Learning Technologies) with Diane Boyd in the spring of '08 and taught SCI-101, Mission to Mars in the fall of '08, and FYS Mars - Shoulders of Giants in the fall of '09 and '10. He is currently teaching Intro to GIS (Spring 2011 and 2012).
Mike graduated from Furman University with a B.S. in Chemistry and later completed his M.A.Ed. in Science Education at Wake Forest University. He’s in the home stretch of a second masters degree in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University. He's currently working with Diane Boyd and Drew Woten on web-based GIS project to map and analyze Hurricane Katrina commemorations. To get a sense of the project visit http://katrinamem.org .
He loves hanging out with his wife and two daughters and likes trail running (while listening to This American Life or RadioLab podcasts), camping, coaching his daughter’s basketball team, and discovering new music.
